Red One

So, get this: Santa Claus, who’s kinda like an undercover agent with the code name “Red One,” gets snatched by a mysterious group right from his secret hideout at the North Pole. Now, it’s up to his trusty bodyguard and head of security—a dude who’s thinking about retiring—to save the day. He ends up teaming up with some genius hacker who might just know who’s behind the kidnapping and where they’re holding Santa.

The movie kicks off with J.K. Simmons playing a pretty laid-back Santa. Right before Christmas Eve, he’s hanging out at a mall taking pics with kids—because apparently that’s the spot packed with all sorts of emotions. But then things go all action-movie as a special forces team pulls him outta there, protecting this guy like he’s some high-profile politician or something.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson plays Santa’s muscle—this big tough bodyguard who’s always got his back. He’s also one of the brains behind making this film happen along with his production team Seven Bucks Productions.

So yeah, it starts off strong with this wild idea that there’s like a secret US agency keeping tabs on magical stuff like Santa’s world—that’s pretty cool and hooks you right in. But once Santa gets kidnapped? Well, that’s when everything starts turning into a bit of a crazy mess…
Alright, here’s the deal with this movie: So, The Rock plays this guy named Callum Drift. He has to figure out who snatched Santa Claus. Crazy, right? There’s this hacker who leaks info about a secret North Pole place hidden under a dome. Wild!

Anyway, along comes Jack O’Malley—Chris Evans’ character. He’s kinda like the charming troublemaker type. Callum and Jack have to team up to save Christmas. At first, these guys really don’t get along ’cause they’re so different. But you know how these things go in buddy movies—they end up bonding over time.

There’s also a side story here about Jack and his teen kid. Their relationship is awkward and messy; Jack can’t seem to do anything right, like missing an important exam for his kid.

The movie tries mixing some comedy with action—car chases and stuff—but kind of ends up all over the place sometimes. It doesn’t really keep its focus on Santa much either. Instead, there’s lots going on with Santa’s stepbrother or something.

It’s a bit hectic but has those moments where it tries touching on friendship and family among all the chaos!
Alright, picture this: you’ve got Krampus, the creepy creature from European myths, popping back up at just the right moment in a movie. It’s trying to capture that warm vibe you get from classic Christmas flicks, but it doesn’t quite stick around—as if the film’s spirit is flickering like a wonky light.

The whole fantasy angle feels a bit dialed down too. It’s mostly wrapped around these reindeer who are pretty much the only female presence here and get called “girls.” The film’s got this super techy feel to it and seems like one of those movies where dudes take center stage. Santa’s wife barely gets screen time. Lucy Liu’s character is there doing her martial arts thing we’ve seen before. And Kiernan Shipka? She deserves way more attention than what she actually gets in this story.
