A Quiet Place: Day One

Samira’s got this tough situation going on. She’s a poet dealing with cancer, so she’s staying at a clinic on the outskirts. One day, she’s part of this group getting taken to New York City—there’s this nurse rounding up patients like her and their cats (Samira brings her cat Frodo along) for a bus trip to see some puppet show. More than anything, Samira just dreams of treating herself to some delicious pizza there.

But things take such a wild turn because bam—an alien invasion hits out of nowhere! It’s chaos everywhere. Samira somehow makes it through the initial mess and finds safety with some other folks in this enclosed spot. The catch is, these creepy aliens get real riled up by noises, so everyone’s gotta be super stealthy to survive.

After dodging danger and bumping into strangers, she ends up teaming with Eric, a British law student who’s been studying in NYC. Together with little Frodo tagging along, they try navigating this madness as the city’s under total mayhem from the alien attack.

Despite being part of a film series everyone loves, this movie actually takes us back to show how everything got started—a prequel that also kinda spins off into stories about different people compared to earlier films.
In the new movie, we dive back into that alien invasion using flashbacks, but this time Michael Sarnoski takes over directing and makes the invasion and what happens right after a big focus. This means tons of excitement, with some really spectacular scenes. But, it doesn’t quite hit the same emotional highs as the first film did. The first one was great at getting us all wrapped up in the characters and how they related to each other, which added a lot of emotional tension.
