Wicked

So, the Wicked Witch of the West is gone, and everybody in Oz is throwing a party because she was the nastiest villain ever. Even Glinda, who’s usually all sweetness and light, comes by to burn an effigy of her old foe. But here’s a twist—not too long ago, these two were actually besties! Yep, back when they first met at the University of Shiz.

Glinda, who used to go by Galinda back then (kind of like when people reinvent themselves), had big dreams. She wanted to learn from this big-deal witch professor named Madame Morrible. But guess what? The professor was more interested in Elphaba—a girl with crazy green skin and even crazier magic powers that she couldn’t quite control.

The movie zooms along with bright colors and big emotions. It’s got this mix of classic stories, yet it keeps some secrets tucked away that we’ll have to wait another year to fully uncover.

And there’s this question: Why does evil exist? That question sets off the tale of Elphaba’s life journey. She started out pretty nice despite her different appearance but got rejected right from birth by her own dad. People teased her for being different; she took blame for things going wrong for her sister; everyone kind of treated her like an outsider or a lone wolf—all stuff pushing her further into isolation.

Then there’s young Glinda on campus—blonde, flashy, maybe a little self-absorbed—and super popular by putting on this sweet-girl act. They’re such opposites on paper but their paths cross in surprising ways just like roomies you wouldn’t expect to click but somehow do!

Anyway part rebel-outcast story…and part magic-friendship saga! Can’t wait till more unfolds next time ’round!
Ever wondered where a bit of Hogwarts magic meets “Fantastic Beasts”? Well, in Jon M. Chu’s take on Oz, things get wild—and not just because of flying monkeys. This place is like a mash-up of all those magical schools, but with a twist: there’s an eerie plot brewing where animals are being targeted and silenced. It’s creating this big push for sanitized control over how stuff’s taught and making sure nobody digs into the hairy past.

Front and center are Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande—killin’ it as two characters who reflect the world’s divides, like night meeting day, but staying separate to keep their identities intact. Think Elphaba—the one who chooses to stand out rather than blend in—versus Glinda, who starts questioning her perfectly pink life choices. It’s like looking in a mirror at today’s polarized vibes and how stepping off the beaten path might just be what it takes to truly find yourself. Magic ain’t always about wands; sometimes it’s about realizing you don’t need one to make your mark.
